Q: What is Just Say Soccer (JSS)?

 

JSS founded in 2009, is a fully sanctioned league under the jurisdiction of SAY Soccer, a member of the United States Soccer Federation.  Our aim is to instill a passion for the game while fostering sportsmanship.  Our U7, U8, U9 & U10 REC& U11 “REC” programs give coaches the flexibility of scheduling games when time permits as well as having an expanded roster.

 

To ensure parity, in each group we offer the following levels of play: Major, Intermediate and Minor Groupings.  Our current program represents over 325 teams, representing more than 75 Soccer Clubs/Programs across Long Island, Westchester and the 5 Boroughs.

 

Q: Who is SAY Soccer?

 

Soccer Association for Youth, USA (SAY Soccer) was founded in 1967 in Cincinnati, Ohio where it remains nationally based today. SAY provides a wide array of services and support to our members including but not limited to insurance, coaching and referee support, legal and administrative support, US Soccer Affiliation, publications for all members, Online Store, and an opportunity for children to experience the game of soccer in fun safe environment. SAY Soccer is "The" Leader in Recreational Soccer Support. 

 

Q: When are games played?

 

All JSS games are played on Saturdays or Sundays. The HOME team determines the day of play. During the season a game may be played during the week if BOTH coaches agree. All games must be played on the day scheduled. However, JSS allows games to be moved to another date if both coaches agree and the request to move the game is greater than 10 days prior to the scheduled match.

 

Q: Where are games played?

 

Each team is responsible for securing a HOME field for all scheduled HOME games. If a team cannot secure a HOME field, then all of their matches will be played as AWAY games.

 

Q: Who can participate in JSS?

 

Any team who wishes to join JSS can! You do NOT need to belong to a “Soccer Club” in order to participate in JSS. All you need to do is register for the League as well as register all players on the Roster Template.

 

Q: What are Player Passes and Insurance?

 

All players who participate in JSS, will be issued a Player Pass. To receive a player pass, each player’s individual information (including birth certificate) will be submitted to JSS via the Roster Template on the JSS website.  Each Coach MUST submit, player passes at each and every game. NO PASS, NO PLAY rule is strictly enforced. All player passes are valid and insured from 7/1-6/30.

 

Q: Do Coaches need Passes?

 

Yes all coaches who are on the sidelines with the players must have a valid coach’s pass.  Only 2 coaches are allowed to be on the players sideline per match

 

Q: Can a player play for more than 1 team and club?

 

A player may play on more than 1 team within the same club provided they are age appropriate. A player may NOT play for more than 1 Club with the JSS program.

 

Q: Can a player play in more than 1 League?

 

YES, a player can play in LIJ, WYSL, CJSL as well as JSS. They can also play for different teams as LIJ & JSS are sanctioned by 2 different governing bodies. Yet they are both sanctioned under the United States Soccer Federation (USSF)!!

 

Q: When does the season begin?

 

All dates of play are listed on the JSS website.

 

Q: What is needed for all games?

 

All coaches need to bring all Player Passes as well as Coaches passes. NEW for the spring 2012 Season, all coaches must present the referee with 2 copies of his game day roster. (Blank Rosters can be found on the JSS website)

 

Q: How many players can I have on my roster?

 

JSS rosters are unlimited. Yet, in order to ensure that all children play at least half a game, it is advised that only 12 players are present for a scheduled match.

 

Q: Can I add players during the season?

 

Of course you can! Just add the player to the “roster template” along with the player’s birth certificate

 

Q: What are the RULES?

 

All League rules are published on the JSS website 15. Where can I find the other coaches contact information? All contacts have been emailed to each coach prior to the start of the season

 

Q: Will the League have a meeting prior to the start of the season?

 

Yes, JSS will have a meeting prior to the start of the season. An email will be sent out to all coaches regarding Date, location, time

 

Q: What is the JSS 3-Goal Differential Rule?

 

If a team goes ahead by 3 Goals, the team that is behind may put 1 additional player on the field until there is less than a 3 goal differential. If the team that is ahead goes up by more than 3 Goals, no additional players may be put on the field.

 

Q: Scoring & Standings

 

All HOME teams must report all scores no later than 8pm the day of the match. All scores must be emailed to drichards@justsaysoccer.com

 

Q: Who schedules the referees?

 

JSS is responsible for the scheduling of JSS League games. If the HOME team coach does not hear from the referee by Thursday evening, please email apostolides@optonline.net

 

Q: Who pays the referee?

 

All referee fees are paid on the field, PRIOR to the start of the match. The fees are split equally between the 2 teams playing

 

Q: How much are the team registration & player fees?

 

Team registration is $300 per Season. All team fees must be paid prior to the start of the season. Player Pass fees are $9/per seasonal year. The seasonal year is 7/1-6/30. If a player joins the league in the Spring Season, the fee is $9

 

Q: Does the League keep standings?

 

The League does keep standings for all age groups except, U7 & U8 Divisions.

 

Q: Does JSS have Leagues for Competitive U10 & older teams?

Q: Are there different levels of play for JSS teams??

 

Yes, we offer Major, Intermediate and Minor divisions of play so that all competitive levels are covered. As an idea, very strong teams should select Major, while newly formed teams should select Minor. Coaches can draw from their experience playing other teams both within and outside their own Club, to assist in selecting a competitive level.  Depending upon the number of teams, JSS may have multiple brackets at each division of play using colors to distinguish between them.
